- ½ lb (225 g) ground lamb (optional, or substitute with more beef)
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (or cheddar)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking tray with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
- Prepare the Meat Mixture: In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground lamb (if using), onion, garlic, breadcrumbs, egg, parsley, salt, pepper, paprika, and oregano. Mix well until fully incorporated.
- Shape and Fill: Flatten a portion of meat mixture in your hand. Add a spoonful of shredded cheese in the center, then fold meat around it and shape into a sealed patty. Repeat with remaining mixture.
- Arrange and Brush: Place patties on prepared tray and lightly brush tops with olive oil.
- Bake: Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until fully cooked and golden brown.
- Optional Broil: Broil for 2–3 minutes at the end for extra browning.
