Ingredients
- 3–4 pounds beef chuck roast
- 1 packet brown gravy mix
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 large onion, chopped
Optional additions:
- 2 carrots, sliced
- 2 potatoes, diced
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions

Prepare the Slow Cooker
Place the chopped onion (and optional carrots or potatoes) at the bottom of the slow cooker to create a flavorful base. -
Add the Beef
Place the beef chuck roast on top of the vegetables. -
Season
Sprinkle the brown gravy mix evenly over the roast so it coats the top. -
Add the Liquid
Pour the beef broth around the sides of the roast.
This will help create a rich gravy as the beef cooks. -
Cook
Cover and cook on:- LOW: 7–8 hours
- HIGH: 4–5 hours
The beef should become very tender and easy to shred.
