For the Chocolate Topping
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
For the Sauce
- 1½ cups hot water
Instructions

Preheat the Oven
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease an 8×8 inch baking dish. -
Make the Batter
In a medium bowl, mix together:- Flour
- Sugar
- Cocoa powder
- Baking powder
- Salt
Add the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract, then stir until a smooth batter forms.
Spread the batter evenly in the prepared baking dish. -
Prepare the Topping
In a small bowl, combine:- Granulated sugar
- Brown sugar
- Cocoa powder
Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the batter.

Add Hot Water
Slowly pour the hot water over the entire mixture.
Do not stir. This step creates the signature chocolate sauce underneath. -
Bake
Bake for 35–40 minutes until the top looks set and slightly crisp while the bottom remains rich and saucy. -
Serve
Allow the cobbler to cool slightly before serving.
